San Francisco's long winter heatwave was made to order for the feral parrots which are found in Lafayette Park and other places in San Francisco.  City Birds Country, the Heart of San Francisco, has a transient population.  People buy these birds with the best of intentions.  But, when high living costs or job loss forces a move, these birds are given their freedom.  Fortunately many residents have bird feeders, and these birds are quite happy with the same diet as native birds such as House Finches.  A City Birds digital photo.
