Missión San Francisco de Asís, aka Mission Dolores, is, along with the Presidio, where the post-Native American history of San Francisco begins. The very week our Declaration of Independence was being signed, Missión San Francisco was founded. This gallery shows many of the highlights to be seen at the Mission and adjoining Cemetery and Basilica. There are many more pictures which could be taken. On a warm, sunny morning, the Mission is a place for moments of quiet peace within a fast, noisy city. On a dark, cloudy day, the place is enchanting.
