The Mallard is the best known duck in the United States and is found in all 48 contiguous states.  This female and male duck are relaxing during a mild morning at Stow Lake, located withing Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.  All domestic ducks trace their ancestry to the Mallard.  Here they ae pictured out of the water.
