| This is one corridor of the three tiers of vaulted brick casemates which housed cannons at Fort Point on the San Francisco side of the Golden Gate. The Fort's construction was begun in 1853 and rushed to completion (1861) in time to protect the San Francisco Bay Area if attacked during our Civil War. A City Birds digital photo. |
