This is a slice of the row of barracks called home by the 30th U.S. Infantry Regiment of the Third Infantry Division (1901 - 1941). The barracks are located alongside the main parade ground of the Presidio of San Francisco. The Regiment was valorous during six campaigns in France during WWI, and in the Battlefields of North Africa, Italy and Europe during WWII. The 30th Regiment earned the motto, "Rock of the Marne," for distinguished action on River Marne, France, during 1918. A City Birds digital photo. |
