| This is the courtyard of Fort Point, San Francisco. To the left would be found such things as mess halls, sick bays, offices, etc. The remaining walls contained three tiers of vaulted brick casemates housing cannons, a barbette tier with additional guns and a sod roof to absorb the impact of enemy cannon fire.
