The markers of our heroes provide a lot of history to think about. Our National Cemeteries, as well as local cemeteries throughout the land, provide an opportunity to reflect on the true cost of war and to mingle among the heroes who paid the price for those wars.
Charles Clark, here, lived from 1847 to 1897. He enlisted in the New Hampshire Cavalry in 1864, one year before the Civil War ended. It appears he had over thirty good years free of war; and, it seems he spent those years as a true friend and a noble husband. A City Birds digital photo. |
