The U.S. Army's Letterman General Hospital Complex at the Presidio of San Francisco opened during 1898 in time to provide care for our troops wounded in the Philippine theater of operations during our War with Spain which began the same year.
Letterman provided medical care for wounded troops during every major war of the 20th Century. During World War II, Letterman became the largest Army hospital in the country. A City Birds digital photo. |
