These beautiful military barracks (five in total) around the main parade ground of the Presidio of San Francisco in the past were occupied by elements of the U.S. Army's famed 3rd Infantry Division.

They were built between 1895-97 in preparation for the U.S. Pacific Expansion beginning is 1898 with the U.S. invasion of the Philippines.  A City Birds digital photo.
