The Red-tailed Hawk hanging out on this tree has more than one enemy; however, the Crow is the Hawk's primary threat. Although the Crow is much smaller than the Hawk, when working as part of a wolf pack, the Crow is more than a nuisance to the Hawk.
Flying around and dive bombing the Hawk, especially when the Hawk is eating, has the potential to injure the Hawk. The biggest threat to the Hawk is the loss of an eye. When you see a bird with one eye, you are looking at a dead bird. The large Turkey Vulture often is seen floating high in the sky like a kite, just waiting for the opportunity to blindside a big bird such as this Red-tailed Hawk.
