Occasionally the Red-tailed Hawk enjoys passing time birdwatching -- seemingly fascinated by the House Finches flying around and within the tree. We ponder the possibility of the hawk feeling loneliness, spending most of the day alone; and, perhaps feeling envy over the family-oriented finches.
As pointed out, the hawk is not a threat to the finches. Any attempt to catch a finch would be akin to a human trying to catch a housefly with a bare hand -- possible perhaps, but not likely to happen. This picture was first published July 27, 2006 by City Birds. |
